Simple Repetition
Planting Ideas

While there's not much to this front yard planting scheme, it looks good, clean, and fits the style of the home nicely. If you're not familiar with plants and landscape planting ideas, repetition and simplicity can be two of your best guidelines to follow when creating your planting ideas. You can lay down a skeleton of a few repeating plants and add more later if you wish.

As I've pointed out before, the thin strip of lawn next to the street isn't always the best idea as it can be difficult to water without waste. Adjusting sprinkler systems for an area like this to address dry spots usually means overspray and waste. To avoid waste usually results in dry dead spots.

Another issue considered with this landscaping is drainage. This home, built at the bottom of this foot hill slope, could have some serious flood problems if the water from storms is not chaneled away from the home and property. If you're doing your landscaping yourself, you need to check with your local, city, or sub-division codes to see what you're allowed to do with run off water from your property.
