Tropical Front Yard
Just like most landscaping and garden styles and themes, tropical landscapes get a lot of the defining character and atmosphere from the plants used in the design. Add a few palms in with a variety of tropical and non-tropic plants and you'll create a strong sense of the design style. Add more plants from the tropics and the style gets even more authentic. Still, a few palms combined with a Mediterranean style home will be obviously tropical.
Like all other types of plants, there are many varieties of palm trees. It's very important to get your palms from a vendor who has a fair knowledge about them. In my own area there are a few varieties that are climatized and others that will survive if insulated in the Winter. Other than that, all other palm tree varieties will fail in our climate.
