Full scale landscaping isn't always necessary to "fix a place up". At times it may be more desireable, appealing, and practical to simply make your landscape blend in with the surrounding landscape, plants, and elements. It surely is very economical.
As our populations grow and new developments push beyond the city limits, lots and entire housing developments like this one are becoming more common. Builders are becoming more conscious of the existing landscape and are taking steps to preserve it during construction. This is an economical plus for both the home owner and the home builder.
As in this design, something as simple as ringing trees or groups of plants with flower beds can add a sense of order and intentional design.
