Raised Foundation Planting Beds
Generally, you'll see homes built on raised foundation pads like this in areas that flood or that have a lot of standing water in rainy seasons. Around my area, where we don't have a lot of flooding, we see older raised homes that were or are farm houses built in the middle of fields that are flood irrigated.
If you're building a new home, it's a good idea to do a landscaping analysis of your lot and area to prepare for any circumstances that aren't obvious or present. And while building your home on a raised isn't a common practice, it may be necessary.
